"Two things about Bowshiel are rare in the Scottish Borders: Firstly that it is an ancient woodland with some stunning remnant features. The Scottish Borders only has 1518ha of Ancient and PAWS woodland, significantly less than other parts of Scotland. Most are tiny fragments in poor condition. Secondly, this site has an owner who wishes to restore it to a native species composition and manage it for biodiversity, carbon sequestration and recreational value. These two factors create an exciting and unusual opportunity that should not be missed"
